Kutsuki is a small ski area at the foot of Mt. Jatanigamine in the Hira range, in Takashima, Shiga, popular with families and beginners. The slopes start right by the car park, and two pair chairlifts serve the gentle Romance course, a long run of 5 to 15 degrees, and the second slope, whose top looks out over Lake Biwa and Chikubu Island. A sledding-only kids' area has its own conveyor belt. There is no ski school and payment is cash only. In winter, approach via Route 161 and Adogawa and carry tyre chains; Kutsuki Onsen Tenku is about ten minutes away by car.
