Mt. Tokkosan is a 1,266 m rocky peak rising south of the Shioda Plain — the "Kamakura of Shinshu" — in southern Ueda, Nagano Prefecture. Its rugged silhouette is unusual among the gentle eastern Shinshu hills, and it has long been an object of mountain worship. The summit offers a 360-degree panorama from Lake Suwa and the Northern Alps to Mt. Yatsugatake, and the peak appears in Shinshū Hyakumeizan, Nihon Hyakuteizan, Shinshū Furusato 120-zan, Kantō no Meizan Best 100, and many other regional lists.
