Mt. Kuroiwayama

Kuroiwayama is a 2,162.8 m peak straddling Nikkō City (Tochigi) and Katashina Village (Gunma) in the southern Taishaku range, lying within Ozegahara National Park. It is a way-point on the long ridge that links Mt. Kinunuma to Lake Ozenuma, and the round trip from Okukinu Onsen or Ōshimizu—about 40 km in distance—is regarded as one of the toughest courses in the Tochigi Hyakumeizan circuit. The Kinunuma Marsh spreads on its northern foot, and the ridge commands sweeping views of the Oze, Nikkō and Aizu mountain country. The peak is included in the Tochigi Hyakumeizan, Aizu Hyakumeizan and Japan's 2,000-metre peaks list.
