小蓮華山
Itoigawa, Niigata · Elevation 2,766 m
Mt. Korenge is a 2,766 m peak straddling the border of Itoigawa City (Niigata) and Otari Village (Nagano) — the highest mountain in Niigata Prefecture. A granite summit on the Ushiro-Tateyama subridge of the Hida Mountains (Northern Alps), northeast of Mt. Shirouma, it is also known as Dainichi-dake. In summer 2007 a partial summit collapse was discovered and the elevation was revised in 2008 from 2,769 m to 2,766 m. An iron sword stands on the top. Inside Chūbu-Sangaku National Park, the standard climb is from Renge-Onsen via Hakuba-Ōike or from Tsugaike-Shizen-en via Hakuba-Norikuradake.
