Mt. Hachi is a 2,563 m peak on the main Ushiro-Tateyama ridge of the Hida Mountains (Northern Alps), on the border of Itoigawa City (Niigata) and Asahi Town in Shimoniikawa District (Toyama). Standing between Shirouma-dake and Yukikura-dake within Chūbu-Sangaku National Park, its summit itself is bypassed by the maintained Asahi-dake–Yukikura-dake–Shirouma traverse, whose path skirts the eastern slope through large colonies of Sinano-kinbai and Hakusan-ichige. The mountain is one of the Niigata 100 Famous Mountains and is included in the Niigata Prefecture mountain grading from Renge-Onsen trailhead.
