Mt. Gentagadake

Mt. Gentagadake is a 1,545 m peak in Hachimantai City, Iwate Prefecture, lying within Towada-Hachimantai National Park on the ridge connecting the main Hachimantai plateau (via Mts. Mokko and Mitsuishi) with Mt. Iwate, just north of Mt. Mitsuishi. Hikers reach it out-and-back from Matsukawa Onsen or traverse it as part of long ridge routes toward Amihari Onsen or Mt. Iwate. The east-facing alpine meadow below the summit blooms with Nikkō-kisuge in summer, and the area is one of Hachimantai's premier autumn-foliage destinations alongside neighbouring Mt. Mitsuishi.
