Mt. Chausudake

Mt. Chausudake is a 1,578 m conical peak in Hachimantai City, Iwate Prefecture, lying within Towada-Hachimantai National Park on the ridge stretching southeast from the main Hachimantai plateau through Mt. Mokko. The trailhead is right next to the Chausuguchi bus stop on the Hachimantai Aspite Line, and a small unmanned hut (Chausu Sansō) sits just below the summit. The roughly 1-hour climb opens a wide view of Mt. Iwate and the Hachimantai plateau, and the Kuroyachi marsh at its western foot is celebrated for early-summer cottongrass and Nikkō-kisuge alpine flowers, making it one of Hachimantai's classic introductory peaks.
