Mount Shibutsu is a 2,228 m peak west of the Ozegahara marshland, one of the signature mountains of Oze National Park. Its serpentine bedrock supports rare alpine flora including Hosoba-hina-usuyukisō and Ozesō, and the peak is listed in the Hyakumeizan and the 100 Mountains of Flowers. In 2026, the trails were closed for vegetation protection from May 7 through June 19 after the late-snow season and reopened on June 20. The standard routes climb from Hatomachi Pass via Ko-Shibutsu and from Yama-no-hana; the eastern trail from Yama-no-hana is ascent-only.
