Mimatayama (South Peak)

Mimatayama South Peak is a 1,743 m summit in the northern Kuju range of Oita Prefecture. Mimatayama comprises four peaks — west, main, north and south — and a well-known route climbs from Sugamori Pass over the west and main peaks before circling the Onabe and Konabe crater hollows to the north and south peaks. It lies in Aso-Kuju National Park and is noted for rhododendron in spring, Miyama-kirishima azalea in June and autumn colour in October.
