This return route climbs Taobi East Ridge from Mizukoshi Pass via the Taobi fortification site and Mount Dainichi to the Mount Kongo summit plaza. Mizukoshi Pass lies between Mount Kongo and Mount Yamato-Katsuragi, and the ascent begins steeply through plantation forest. From Taobi, it continues through Rokudo-no-tsuji and Mount Dainichi before returning by the same route.
