Wakamatsu Shimin Ski Area trail map
Wakamatsu Shimin Ski Area is Kitami city's local hill, a short drive southeast of the city centre. One double chairlift serves three runs, including a B course certified by the Ski Association of Japan, plus a rope-tow slope for beginners and a sledding area for small children. The Kitami Ski School teaches all ages here, and the hill hosts alpine races and technique training. Night skiing runs every evening, so locals come after work or school. Preschool children ride free. The season runs from mid-December to late March.
