Open 1971–2025
Shokawa Kogen Ski Area was a small family hill in Shokawa, Takayama, Gifu, run by the Shokawa Kogen Country Club golf course. Opened in December 1971, it offered four easy and intermediate runs between roughly 900 and 1,100 m, popular with families driving up from Nagoya and Gifu. Visitors peaked at about 17,000 in 2008, but the area relied entirely on natural snow, one of its two lifts had been out of use for years, and numbers fell to around 8,000. In September 2025 the operator announced it would not reopen; 2024-25 was the final season.
