Rakanzan Highland Ski Area Closed

Official name 羅漢山ハイランドスキー場

Yamaguchi

Closed in 2008

Rakanzan Highland was a small ski area on the Rakan Kogen plateau, on the flank of Mt. Rakan in the Nishiki area of Iwakuni, eastern Yamaguchi. One pair lift served three short runs with about 90 m of vertical, much of it steep. Repeated snow shortages left the lift idle by around 2008, and the city later removed it as part of a programme to demolish ageing municipal facilities. The old base area is now part of Rakan Kogen Sky Park, an auto campground with bungalows, tennis courts and hiking trails.
