Otari Onsen Ski Area Closed
Official name 小谷温泉スキー場
Nagano
Opened in 1917
Otari Onsen Ski Area was a slope beside the hot-spring inns of Otari Onsen, in Nakatsuchi in Otari village, Nagano. The spa sits at about 880 m, and a sign on one of the base buildings reads 'since 1917', suggesting that guests have skied the snowy slopes here for a long time. It never had a permanent lift and was not the kind of resort listed in major ski guides. The village history records it as an abolished ski area, but the area is still used in winter and spring as a starting point for ski touring.
