Oishida Town Satoyama Ski Area Closed
Official name 大石田町営里山スキー場
Yamagata
Open 1994–2013
Satoyama Ski Area was a small town-run hill in the Yokoyama district of Oishida, Yamagata Prefecture. Opened in 1994, it had one lift serving a run of about 350 m plus a gentler detour course. It opened only in the evening on weekdays and day and night at weekends, so locals could ski after work or school. Years of losses and the rising cost of repairing ageing equipment led the town to close it after the 2012-13 season, which it ran free of charge.
