Nikko Shobugahama Ski Area Closed
Official name 日光菖蒲ヶ浜スキー場
Tochigi
Closed in 2006
Nikko Shobugahama was a small Seibu-run ski area on the slope just north of Shobugahama, beside Lake Chuzenji in Nikko. One triple chairlift served a gentle slope averaging about 7 degrees and no steeper than 14, making it a lakeside spot for families and beginners. It ran from late December to early April and later added ski rental, lessons and a children's sledding slope; snowboarding was allowed on weekdays only. When the Seibu group began selling and closing facilities in 2004, the area was suspended in 2005 and abolished in 2006.
