Nihonmatsu Shiozawa Ski Area trail map
Nihonmatsu Shiozawa is a small family ski area at the foot of Mt. Adatara in Nihonmatsu, run by the nearby Tohoku Safari Park. Its north-facing slopes are wide and mostly gentle, which suits beginners and families, and the sheltered terrain means the lifts rarely stop for wind. Children are the focus: weekend treasure hunts in the snow play area, discounted 'kids' ski days', and rental packages that let you arrive without any gear. It is about 20 minutes from Nihonmatsu IC on the Tohoku Expressway with no steep climb, and the Shiozawa and Dake hot springs are close by.
