Numajiri, near Numajiri Onsen in Inawashiro, Fukushima, dates back to 1915 and is known as the oldest ski area still operating in Tohoku. Its seven courses are mainly beginner and intermediate, including a 1.3 km tree-lined trail, the long Shirakaba cruiser and the Numa Park terrain park. A snow-play park, a warm kids' room with a nursing area and a snow dog run make it popular with families, and preschoolers ride the lifts free. It runs from late December to late March, closed on Mondays, with Numajiri and Nakanosawa hot springs nearby.

Car: Bandai-Atami IC, Ban-etsu Expressway (Bonari Green Line toll free), 30 min

Inawashiro Station Tohoku Shinkansen to Koriyama Station, change to the JR Ban-etsu West Line → About 30 min by taxi
