Nasu Onsen Family Ski Area Closed
Official name 那須温泉ファミリースキー場 · Formerly 国設那須岳スキー場
Tochigi
Open 1961–2022
Nasu Onsen Family Ski Area was a town-run hill on national forest land on Mt. Nasu in Nasu, Tochigi. It opened in 1961 as Kokusetsu Nasudake Ski Area and took its later name after upgrades in 1996. With two double chairs, three runs and a sled park, and no snowboarding allowed, it was aimed at families and drew around 50,000 visitors a year in the 1970s. Competition from a larger nearby resort, poor snow, pandemic losses and expensive lift repairs led the town to close it after its final day on 21 March 2022. As the land is leased national forest, the site must be returned to its original state.
