Nashiki Kogen Ski Area Closed
Official name 名色高原スキー場
Hyogo
Open 1966–2010
Nashiki Kogen Ski Area was on Kannabe Kogen in Hidaka, Toyooka, Hyogo, and opened in 1966. Laid out on the outer rim of Mt. Kannabe, it had beginner and intermediate slopes below and steeper terrain above, up to 40 degrees. At its peak it drew more than 50,000 skiers a year, but typhoon damage in 2004, warm winters with little snow and the weak economy cut visitor numbers. The company, owned by the local community, closed it after the 2009-10 season and was wound up. Other ski areas on Kannabe Kogen remain open.
