Moriyama Kogen Ski Area Closed
Official name 森山高原スキー場
Fukui
Opened in 1963
Moriyama Kogen was a small ski area in the Moriyama district, less than 10 km south of central Ono. Locals had enjoyed simple ski jumping there since the Taisho era, and in 1963 a local tourism association built the slope, a base lodge and a car park, adding the first chairlift in 1970. A single chair and a surface lift served gentle beginner runs of up to about 600 m. It closed around the mid-2000s; the lifts are gone and trees now cover the old slope.
