Minami Furano National Ski Resort is a town-run hill in Ikutora, just south of Lake Kanayama, in an area ringed by big names such as Furano, Tomamu and Sahoro. Its snow is a match for its neighbours, while town ownership keeps lift prices very low. The two lifts are old, but the terrain spans gentle slopes to a 35-degree pitch over about 215 m of vertical. Night skiing runs Tuesday to Saturday, so locals ski after work or school. A sledding mound for children and a lodge with a small restaurant suit families. The area is closed on Mondays.
