Hotaka Bokujo Ski Area Closed
Official name 武尊牧場スキー場
Gunma
Open 1979–2017
Hotaka Bokujo Ski Area was a ski area on the ranch land of Hotaka Bokujo, on the eastern flank of Mount Hotaka in Katashina, Gunma, at about 1,100 to 1,480 m. It opened in 1979, built by a third-sector company backed by Gunma Prefecture, local municipalities and the Bank of Gunma, and offered 11 runs including a 3 km cruiser, plus a well-known terrain park. Because part of the facilities belonged to the prefecture, the company ran them as designated manager; when it declined to continue, the ski area closed after the 2016-17 season. Its park moved to Oguna Hotaka, and the ranch remains in use as a summer camp ground.
