Hirata was a small city-run ski hill in the former Hirata town area of Sakata, Yamagata, next to Matsuyama Ski Area. Its compact slope suited families and children learning to ski. Ageing facilities led the city to abolish it at the end of fiscal 2023 while the neighbouring Matsuyama Ski Area remains open.
