Hakusan Sena Kogen Ski Area Closed
Official name 白山瀬女高原スキー場
Ishikawa
Open 1991–2012
Hakusan Sena Kogen was a ski area at Seto in Hakusan, Ishikawa (formerly Oguchi village), named after the local districts of Seto and Onahara. It opened in 1991 with courses laid out with help from Toni Sailer, triple gold medallist at the 1956 Cortina Olympics. A gondola and three other lifts linked about 344 m to 1,110 m, giving one of the biggest verticals in the prefecture, 766 m, with runs up to 3.4 km long. It was also the first site in Ishikawa designated under Japan's Resort Act. Visitor numbers kept falling, and it closed on 20 March 2012, when its operating company was dissolved. The lifts have been removed, and the city has moved to buy the land in search of a private-sector use.
