Asari Ski Resort trail map
Asari Ski Resort, in the Asarigawa Onsen hot-spring area of Otaru, is known for its ocean views: from the lifts and summit you look straight out over the Sea of Japan. Five of its nine runs are for advanced skiers, including the ungroomed Orange course at up to 35 degrees, the mogul-heavy Green A and tree-run zones near the top and mid-mountain where powder collects. There is also a 3 km run from the top, a beginner zone with a snow escalator and the Asari Fun Park for sledding. Hot-spring inns are within walking distance, and the hill is about 40 minutes by car from Sapporo and 15 from Otaru.
