Abashiri Lake View Ski Area trail map
Abashiri Lake View is the city-run ski hill on Mount Tento in Abashiri, true to its name with views over frozen Lake Abashiri and, on clear days, the drift-ice Sea of Okhotsk and the Shiretoko range. A single pair chairlift serves seven runs, from a forest trail over a kilometre long and a varied top-to-bottom run to a sledding slope for small children. Night skiing runs on weekdays and Saturdays, so locals drop in after work or school, and lift prices are low, with free Saturdays for schoolchildren from Abashiri and neighbouring towns. In summer the slope becomes the Hana Tento flower garden. Memanbetsu Airport is about 30 minutes away by car.
