Nekoishi ("cat rock") is a 1,335 m rocky peak in Kitashiobara, Fukushima Prefecture, within Bandai-Asahi National Park. Standing on the outer rim of the Oguninuma caldera formed by the Nekoma volcano, it lies about 20 minutes west of the summit of Nekomagadake, overlooking the Oguninuma marsh, where a massive andesite boulder resembles a giant cat. Per the Edo-period Shinpen Aizu Fudoki, its name comes from a legend in which the priest Kobo Daishi subdued a shape-shifting demon cat; it is reached from the Happōdai trailhead via Nekomagadake.
