Mt. Funaki (1,334 m) stands on the border between Shisō City (Hyōgo) and Mimasaka City (Okayama) along the main ridge of the Hyōnosen–Ushiroyama–Nagisan Quasi-National Park, rising shoulder-to-shoulder with neighboring Mt. Ushiro to the east. It is included in the Shisō 50 Famous Mountains, Mimasaka Alps and Okayama Mountains lists. Two routes — the Ōmisato Pass Course and the Nabegaya Forest Road Course — climb from the Shisō side, and the peak also lies on the long traverse linking Mt. Ushiro and Mt. Koma-no-O.
