Mt. Anogawadake

Anogawa-dake is a 1,611 m peak in Minakami Town, Tone District, Gunma Prefecture, sitting on a side ridge that runs south from the Tanigawa range's main crest as a fore-peak to the major summits. Its summit offers a close-up view of the great south face of Mt. Tanigawa, but the mountain has no maintained hiking trail and its slopes are choked with chest-deep bamboo grass in summer, so ascents are practically limited to the snow and residual-snow seasons. It is listed as #9 in the Gunma 100 Famous Mountains and also appears in the Gunma 300 list, prized by experienced climbers as a 'back-country' peak of the Tanigawa range.
