Okutone Snow Park sits beyond the Minakami hot-spring area in Gunma, about 10 km from Minakami IC on the Kan-Etsu Expressway and ten minutes by free shuttle from JR Minakami Station, which makes it an easy trip from the Tokyo area. Its signature is long night skiing late into the evening every day, so you can arrive late or come after work. The hill opened in 1972 as Okutone Kokusai Ski Area and took its current name in the 2007-08 season. Runs range from an easy forest-road descent to tree runs and steeper pitches, and the season lasts from mid-December to around the end of March.
