Mount Sunahachi

Mount Sunahachi (1,431.6 m) is the highest peak of the Arakurayama range in the Kinasa district of Nagano City, and one of the Shinshū 100 Famous Mountains. Together with Mount Arakura and Amakazari it forms the "Arakura Three Peaks," long associated with the demon-woman Momiji legend. Approached from the Togakushi-Kamaishi forest road, the trail features narrow ridges and chain-secured scrambles best suited to experienced hikers; the summit looks out to the Togakushi Range, Mount Ichiya, and the Northern Japan Alps. The route is maintained by local volunteers via the Kinasa Tourism Promotion Association.
