Mount Sakazukiyama

Mount Sakazukiyama is a 255 m hill on the eastern edge of central Yamagata City. Its name reflects a shape resembling an upturned sake cup, and along with adjacent Mt. Chitose it has long been a beloved local satoyama. Furumine Shrine sits at the summit, with two trails (the northern and eastern courses) climbing to the top in 20–30 minutes, and an observation deck along the way looks out over the Yamagata cityscape with the Zaō Range and Mt. Gassan beyond.
