Mount Chiroro

Mount Chiroro is a 1,879.7 m twin-peaked mountain in Hidaka Town, Saru District of Hokkaido, rising on the west ridge of Rubeshibe Mountain in the northern Hidaka Range. Its name comes from the Chiroro River at its base, and the summit carries the second-class triangulation point 'Chiroro-dake'. The main peak is composed of norite and the west peak of peridotite; the ultramafic alpine flora of the west peak is comparable to that of Yūbari and Apoi mountains. The single trail along the Panke-Nūshi River's curved valley is an advanced-level route requiring stream-climbing skills; it is administered by the Town of Hidaka and lies within the Hidaka-Sanmyaku-Erimo-Tokachi National Park designated in 2024.
