Mount Pipairo is a 1,916.2 m peak on the border between Obihiro City and Memuro Town in Hokkaido, standing on the main ridge of the northern Hidaka Range. Its name comes from the Ainu language meaning 'place of many marsh clams', after the Pipairo River that flows from its slopes. The trapezoidal silhouette is easily recognised from the Tokachi plain, and its blocky stone summit commands one of the finest views in the northern Hidaka — including the cirque-rimmed Mount Tottabetsu and the renowned Mount Poroshiri. The connecting ridge from Mount Fushimi is described by the Hokkaido Regional Environment Office as 'the golden traverse of the Hidaka Range'. The mountain lies within Hidaka-Sanmyaku-Erimo-Tokachi National Park, designated in 2024, and is counted among the 100 Famous Mountains of Hokkaido.
