Misen is a 1,974-metre summit on the boundary of Saijō City and Kumakōgen Town in Ehime Prefecture, one of the three peaks — with Tengu-dake (1,982 m) and Nansenpō (1,982 m) — that together form Mount Ishizuchi, the highest mountain in western Japan. The upper shrine of Ishizuchi Jinja stands on its summit, and as the terminus of both the Jōju pilgrimage route with its chain sections and the Tsuchigoya route it is the point most climbers treat as the summit. It lies at the heart of Ishizuchi Quasi-National Park, and the shrine-run Chōjō Sansō hut stands beside the shrine.
