Kuma Skiland is one of the few ski areas in Shikoku, set on the Kuma Plateau about an hour's drive from central Matsuyama. A large Ice Crush snowmaking system, which the resort calls among the biggest in Shikoku, lets it open early in the season. Two triple chairlifts serve about 100 m of vertical, with a gentle cruiser, two mid-steep main runs, a short mogul pitch and a park with boxes, rails and kickers. A free moving carpet on the beginner slope and a netted sledding hill make it easy for families and first-timers. The slopes are lit every night through the season, so it is easy to drop in after work.
