Shichijo Cabin

One of the two buildings of Shichijo Goya, at 2,400m on the seventh station of the Kuroto ridge, the classic front approach to Kaikomagatake. The Kuroto ridge climbs some 2,200m from the Ojiragawa Valley trailhead to the 2,967m summit — one of the longest ascents in Japan — and Shichijo Goya is the only hut anywhere along it. Both the Ojiragawa Valley and Yokote Komagatake-jinja trailheads have free parking about twenty minutes from the Kobuchizawa or Sutama interchanges, and taxis take 20–30 minutes from Kobuchizawa, Nagasaka or Hinoharu stations. Together with the adjoining second building it sleeps 24, strictly by reservation, with bedding provided and both dinner and breakfast served. Drinking water comes from a tap in front of the hut, and the shop sells beer and spirits, soft drinks, cup noodles and original goods. The campsite needs no booking. It is one of the few huts that also open in winter, and the toilets stay unlocked even on closed days.
