Mountain hut at 2,899m standing on the very summit of Akadake, the highest peak of the Yatsugatake range and one of Japan's hundred famous mountains. The view is unobstructed through 360 degrees: Mount Fuji floating above a sea of cloud, the ranks of the Japanese Alps, sunrise, and the ridge turning deep red at sunset — all of it reserved for those who sleep on the top. The dining room, called Ten-no-mado, "the window of heaven", looks out over the drifting cloud sea. It is about five and a half hours on foot from Minotoguchi, where the Jizo and Bunzaburo ridges and the crest from Akadake Tenboso all converge. There are private and shared rooms for 100 people, and reservations are required. There is no water source and no bath, so water must be carried up or bought at the shop. Run by Yumoto Honzawa Onsen, which also operates Kiretto Goya and Yamabiko-so.
