Mountain hut at 2,340m on a wooded flat ringed by the walls of Akadake, Amidadake and Yokodake in the southern Yatsugatake range. It is about three and a half hours on foot from Minotoguchi, at the point where the Jizo and Bunzaburo ridges — the two ways up Akadake — diverge. A draught beer with those walls rising in front of you, and a solid lunch menu of ramen, curry and beef bowls, have made it popular with families; it keeps the feel of an old-style hut. Overnight service runs only in summer and over the New Year, strictly by reservation, with a partitioned common room sleeping about 50 and nine private rooms for up to six. Camping is available all year with no reservation and no limit on numbers or tents. There is a tatami dining room, drying rooms, cooking areas and a changing room, but no bath. Run by the same management as Akadake Kosen.
