Minoto Kogen Yamanoko Mura, at Minoto (1,700m) up the forest road from Minotoguchi in the southern Yatsugatake range. Close to the Minamisawa and Kitasawa trailheads for Akadake, Yokodake and Io-dake, it offers parking for 80 cars and a campsite as a base for walking and trekking. From Chino Station on the JR Chuo Main Line take a taxi or bus to Minotoguchi, then walk about an hour to Minoto; by car it is roughly 40 minutes from the Suwa or Suwa-Minami interchange. The season runs from late April to late October, with irregular closing days. Camping costs 1,000 yen per person per night, and parking can be booked by phone or online. The lodge building is under renovation, so at present only the parking and campsite are in use.
