八ヶ岳山荘

Lodge beside Minotoguchi, the gateway to the southern Yatsugatake range. It is the last point reachable by private car or bus, and climbs of Akadake, Io-dake and the other peaks above 2,500m begin here. Open year-round, it serves for checking gear and eating before setting out, and for a bath on the way down. Lodging is strictly by reservation: five private rooms — Japanese-style, Western-style and twin — taking one to three people each, plus two nap rooms sleeping 20 and 12, for a total capacity of 44. Private-room rates include parking, the bath and coffee. The nap rooms are treated as room-only, can be entered around the clock, and may be used without a reservation if space is free on the day. Disposable sheets, pillowcases and collar covers are used. It is run by the Fujimori group, together with Akadake Tenboso, Minoto Sanso and Hutte Natsuzawa.
