Open 1982–2018
Takanagane Family Ski Area was a small municipal hill on Mt. Takanagane on the outskirts of Hirosaki, at the foot of Mt. Iwaki and overlooking the Tsugaru Plain. It opened in December 1982 as the winter side of the Takanagane Recreation Forest, which served as a campground in summer. The slope had two lifts and floodlights, with night skiing on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and was about 25 minutes by car from central Hirosaki. Run by the Hirosaki city greenery association, the whole facility closed at the end of fiscal 2017, in March 2018.
