Niyama Kogen Ski Area trail map
Niyama Kogen sits in Nanae, about 23 km from central Hakodate, as part of the Hakodate Niyama Leisure Centre with an onsen hotel and campground. Ten runs drop 500 m from 630 m to 130 m, from the 35-degree Furikozawa to the gentle 4 km Traverse and a board park with kickers and rails. On clear days skiers look across the Ono plain to Mt. Hakodate and the Tsugaru Strait, and night sessions came with views of Hakodate's lights. Alpine racer Akira Sasaki grew up skiing here. The area has not opened since the 2023-24 season was cancelled.
