Hakodate Nanae Snowpark sits on the slopes above Onuma in Nanae, southern Hokkaido, and is known for its 3,319-metre gondola, which takes about 15 minutes to reach the summit. Up top the trees are often coated in rime, and the views take in Hokkaido Komagatake and Lake Onuma; non-skiers can ride up to the summit café too. Linking forest runs from the top gives a descent of about 4 km, half of the eight courses are rated beginner, and there is a kids' park. Night skiing runs on Friday to Sunday evenings, and Hakodate is about 50 minutes away by car.
