Myoko Tsubodake Ski Area Closed
Official name 妙高坪岳スキー場
Niigata
Opened in 1961
Myoko Tsubodake was a small ski area north of Myoko Kogen in Niigata, reached by a short track off Prefectural Road 39 toward Seki Onsen and Tsubame Onsen. It opened around 1961 with a single 270 m chairlift on slopes between about 670 m and 750 m. It was reportedly run by a college affiliated with a Tokyo university and closed in the mid-1990s. The lift has gone and almost no trace of the ski area remains, but the old top offered fine views south to Mount Myoko.
