Miyagi Zao Shichikashuku is a family-oriented ski area on the southern side of the Zao range in Shichikashuku, the south-western corner of Miyagi Prefecture. Three pair lifts serve five runs: the wide, gentle Mamanoue slope is ideal for first-timers, the Sugi-no-mori and Matsu-no-mori courses give intermediates longer cruising, and the steep Chuo course averages about 30 degrees. Children under school age ride free, and there is a childcare room, a family room and regular kids' event days. Guests can stay in the Kirara-no-Mori cottages on site, and the area is a straightforward drive from Sendai, Fukushima, Yamagata and Yonezawa.
