Mount Keisei (440 m) rises in Shichikashuku, Miyagi Prefecture, just above the confluence of the Shiraishi and Yokokawa rivers, standing twin with the slightly shorter Mount Yamabushi. Its name preserves a roughly 300-year-old tragedy in which a Kyoto Gion geisha and a yamabushi ascetic fled persecution and drowned themselves in the Shiraishi River below, the spot still known as Jigoku-buchi. A maintained walkway crosses a red suspension bridge from the parking area to the summit in about twenty minutes, and the peak appears in the Miyagi Prefecture mountain guidebook.
