Mt. Gōshi (1,022 m) rises on the southern end of the Zaō Range along the border between Fukushima City and Takahata Town in Yamagata Prefecture, and is included in the Yamagata 100 Famous Mountains. Its open summit offers a 360-degree view of the Azuma Range to the south, the Iide Range to the west, the Asahi Range and Mt. Gassan to the northwest, the Zaō Range to the northeast, and Mt. Chōkai in the distance on clear days. From the Yamagata side, the Hana-no-Kata and Hikaba-goe courses form a loop starting at the Motomiya Campground, and the Beech Forest Hiking Course connects southward along the ridge to Mt. Koma, all maintained by the local alpine club.
