Tengendaikogen trail map
Tengendaikogen spreads across the flank of Mt. Nishi-Azuma above Yonezawa, Yamagata, where a ropeway and chairlifts climb to Hokubodai at 1,820 m. It is known for a long season that runs from late November to the Golden Week holidays in May. A roughly 6 km run drops about 900 m, and the upper Tsugamori and Shakunage slopes are left ungroomed after snowfall, with tree-lined runs through old forest, snow-covered trees and mogul pitches for stronger skiers. A family park and gentle slopes sit near the ropeway's upper station, where the Alb Tengendai lodge has a hot-spring bath. Buses from Yonezawa Station run to the ropeway base.

Areas outside the marked courses are closed and unmanaged; leaving the 湯の平 course is forbidden. Ko-Heli beacons are rented for mountaineers and backcountry skiers.
